dtp entertainment and the development studio Real U, based in
Singapore, present the MMOG (Massively Multiplayer Online
Game) Otherland. Otherland, based on the best-selling novels
by fantasy author Tad Williams, will appear for the PC in 2011.
Game fans can expect a completely new MMOG experience
with Otherland. Based on the Unreal Engine 3, Otherland
will set new technical standards for the MMOG genre.
'Unreal Engine 3 is the basis for our client side game
and graphics engine. To push it over the top our
developers have also made countless additions to
ensure outstanding graphics quality over huge environments. At the same time our artists and engineers are exploring the boundaries of Unreal Engine 3 to create fresh new visual styles for the game. At Real U we are developing completely new architecture that allows us to build a groundbreaking MMO game with Unreal Engine 3 at its core,' says Andrew Carter, CEO Real U.
MMO fans can also expect a fascinating gameplay experience. Based on the globally successful novels, the Otherland gameplay is distinguished by a unique narrative structure. Rather than retelling the story, players will experience their own individual stories within the Otherland universe and will encounter many of the familiar characters from the books. The game world will change dynamically around them during the course of the game.
A new online gaming experience
Starting from the player lobby Lambda Mall, an Entertainment, Meeting and Communication centre, players will teleport into a wide variety of game worlds. As in the books, virtual reality is a central topic of the game. Nothing is what it appears to be at first glance in this futuristic vision from the pen of Tad Williams, who played an important role in the development of the game. 'Tad Williams visited us during the conception phase and was very actively involved in the realisation of this project from the beginning,' comments Andrew Carter. 'Because this is a MMOG, a linear storyline would not be feasible. Therefore, we had to find an alternative way of telling a story. I think we have found a terrific combination of innovative narration and faithfulness to the books,' Carter continues.
Andrew Carter is the leader of a development team, now consisting of 80 people, based in Singapore. The international team is composed of game experts with years of experience in the gaming industry. The core team had previously worked at Melbourne House, EA, THQ and other major international studios. Real U is a 100 % subsidiary of dtp entertainment AG.
'Otherland is the largest game production in the history of our company. We see enormous potential in the untapped Otherland licence, which the experienced Real U team and mastermind Andrew Carter will implement in a unique game experience,' says Markus Windelen, COO dtp entertainment.

Developed by Onverse for Mac OSX and Windows, Onverse is a free online virtual world full of fun people and cool things to do. Unlike 2D social networks that simply give you a profile page, Onverse gives you a free 3D home, clothing, furniture and some tools to get you started. It’s your new virtual life in a massive virtual world. Everyone who joins Onverse can create an avatar and get a free apartment, then head out into the world to explore and find new friends. Explore ancient space temples, pirate caves, tropical islands, red rivers and other gorgeous landscapes.
The Onverse economy runs on a dual currency model: Player Points (Player Points are the free currency in Onverse. PP are acquired through the use of tools or by playing games. PP can be used to buy approximately half of the items in the game.) and Cash Coins (Cash Coins are the paid currency in Onverse. CC are used to purchase exclusive/rare items, pets, mansions and penthouses. CC can be converted to PP by an NPC at a rate of 1,000CC for 10,000PP. CC can be purchased online or be freely obtained by recruiting new users and participating in promotional offers).
Aside from your avatar, your virtual home is probably the most important place in Onverse. It’s a place in the world to decorate and call your own. Invite your friends over for a dance party or use it as a meeting place from which to venture out and explore. Everyone who signs up for Onverse can get a free apartment. There are apartments both in the Hub and on Volcano Island, with more likely to follow as we add new areas. Simply find an apartment that is unoccupied and purchase it through the home control panel, what we call the Homepoint. When your apartment starts to overflow with stuff, you might want to look into a larger pad. Volcano Island is our first community where you can find a home to call your own. With over 40 houses to choose from, there are many different shapes, sizes and locations from small bungalows to mega-mansions.

Blood Bowl is a two-player, turn-based board game that typically uses 28 mm miniatures to represent a contest between two teams on a playing field. A board containing a grid overlay represents the field. Using dice, cards, and counters, the players attempt to outscore each other by entering the opponent's end zone with a player who possesses the ball.
The "Blood" in Blood Bowl is represented by the violent actions available to players. Game play is based on a hybrid of American Football, Rugby, and ultra-violent fictional sports events such as Rollerball. Players may attempt to injure or maim the opposition in order to make scoring easier by reducing the number of enemy players on the field.
The player races are drawn from the ranks of fantasy races and have characteristics that reflect the abilities of those races. Elves tend to be agile and good at scoring, while Dwarves and Orcs are more suited to a grinding, physical style of play. Players are also divided up into positions suited to their role on the field, including Throwers, Catchers, and Linemen.
In league play, players gain additional skills and abilities based on their accumulation of experience points. Players face potential injury or even death on the field throughout their careers. Teams improve by the purchase of off-field staff such as cheerleaders, assistant coaches, and apothecaries.
